Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Paw Guide collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU Regulation 2016/679). By using the Paw Guide mobile application, website, or any related services, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data Controller

The data controller responsible for the processing of personal data is Paw Guide.

2. Definitions

For the purposes of this Privacy Policy:

  • "Personal Data" means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
  • "Processing" means any operation performed on personal data, including collection, recording, storage, use, disclosure, transfer, or deletion.
  • "User" means any individual who uses the Paw Guide application.
  • "Data Controller" means Paw Guide, which determines the purposes and means of processing personal data.
  • "GDPR" means Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

3. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account using email, username and password, we collect your email address and authentication credentials managed through our authentication provider. When you sign in using Google OAuth, we collect your name, email address and profile picture. We do not have access to your Google account password.

Profile Information

We store your email, username and password. We may store a profile picture if you choose to display within the App.

Pet Information

The App allows users to create pet profiles containing a pet name, pet type/species, and dog size (where applicable). Pet names are visible only to the owner of the account.

Reviews and User Content

Users may submit reviews for locations displayed within the App. Reviews are visible to other users and may be displayed together with your username and your profile picture, if you choose to display one.

We also collect information from mobile devices for a better user experience, although these features are completely optional:

Camera (Pictures)

Granting camera permission allows the user to upload any picture straight from the platform, you can safely deny camera permissions for this platform.

Photo Gallery (Pictures)

Granting photo gallery access allows the user to upload any picture from their photo gallery, you can safely deny photo gallery access for this platform.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • GPS location data
  • Health-related data
  • Payment information
  • Advertising identifiers for marketing purposes
  • Analytics or user tracking data
The App does not contain advertisements and does not use tracking technologies for advertising purposes.

5. Tracking Technologies

Local Storage

Local Storage sometimes known as DOM storage, provides web apps with methods and protocols for storing client-side data. Web storage supports persistent data storage, similar to cookies but with a greatly enhanced capacity and no information stored in the HTTP request header.

Sessions

We use "Sessions" to identify the areas of our platform that you have visited. A Session is a small piece of data stored on your computer or mobile device by your web browser.

6. Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal data for the following purposes:

  • Creating and managing user accounts
  • Providing App functionality and services
  • Storing and managing pet information
  • Displaying and managing reviews
  • Maintaining platform security and integrity
  • Providing customer support
  • Complying with legal obligations

The legal bases for processing include:

  • Performance of a contract between you and Paw Guide (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR)
  • Compliance with legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR)
  • Our legitimate interests in maintaining a secure and reliable service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR)

7. Google Sign-In

The App supports authentication through Google OAuth. When using Google Sign-In, we receive only your name, email address and profile picture. We do not access any other information from your Google account.

8. Google Maps

The App uses Google Maps services to display maps and locations. The App does not request, access, or collect your device's GPS location. Your use of Google Maps may also be subject to Google's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

9. Third-Party Service Providers

To operate the App, we rely on third-party service providers, including:

  • Supabase (database and authentication services)
  • Google OAuth
  • Google Maps Platform

These providers may process personal data solely for the purpose of providing their services.

10. Transfer of Personal Data Outside the European Economic Area

Paw Guide is incorporated in Greece. In the course of providing our services, some of the third-party providers we use, including Google and Supabase, may process or store personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These safeguards may include the use of Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, transfers to countries benefiting from an adequacy decision, or other lawful transfer mechanisms. We take reasonable steps to ensure that all third-party service providers maintain an appropriate level of protection for personal data.

As a result of using our website, application, or support services, your personal data may be accessed or processed by our personnel or trusted service providers in countries outside your country of residence where necessary to provide our services. By using our services, you acknowledge that such international transfers may occur. Where required by applicable law, these transfers will always be subject to appropriate safeguards designed to protect your personal data.

11. Information we share with third parties

We may engage trusted third party service providers to perform functions and provide services to us, such as hosting and maintaining our servers and the website/app, database storage and management, storage. We will likely share your personal information, and possibly some non-personal information, with these third parties to enable them to perform these services for us and for you.

We may also disclose personal and non-personal information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate in order to respond to claims, legal process (including subpoenas), to protect our rights and interests or those of a third party, the safety of the public or any person, to prevent or stop any illegal, unethical, or legally actionable activity, or to otherwise comply with applicable court orders, laws, rules and regulations.

12. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical, organizational, and administrative measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Personal data is securely stored using infrastructure provided by Supabase, and we maintain physical, electronic, and managerial safeguards designed to help protect the information we collect.

While we take reasonable steps to safeguard your personal data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. Where required by applicable law, we will maintain security measures consistent with our legal obligations and take appropriate action in the event of a security incident.

13. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account remains active or as necessary to provide our services. Following account deletion, personal data will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period unless retention is required by law.

14. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the account deletion feature available within the App. Alternatively, you may request account deletion by contacting us through our website or by emailing support@pawguide.app.

15. Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Restrict processing

  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

If you are located in the European Union, you may contact your local data protection authority regarding any concerns related to the processing of your personal data.

16. Children Under 13

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we become aware that such data has been collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it promptly. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

18. Updates to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technologies, legal requirements, or business practices. The most current version will always be available through the Paw Guide website and application and will indicate the date of the latest revision. We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect personal data.

19. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Greece and the applicable laws and regulations of the European Union, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Greece, in accordance with applicable EU law.

Our website may include links or buttons that redirect you to third-party platforms, including the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, where you can download our application, as well as Google Maps, where you can view locations and related place information. When you follow these links or access external platforms, your interaction may be subject to the privacy policies and terms of those third-party providers.

We do not control, operate, or assume responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or data processing activities of these external platforms. Any personal data processing that occurs after you leave our website is governed solely by the respective third party’s privacy policy.
